Center for Miracles
An assessment center for suspected child abuse or neglect providing information and assistance to Child Protective Services on a referral-only basis. The Center is directed under the leadership of Nancy Kellogg, M.D., Professor and Chief, Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics, Department of Pediatrics, UT Health San Antonio.
Children’s Health Kidney Center
Care for all types of pediatric kidney conditions. UT Health San Antonio and University Health System partner to care for newborns, young children and adolescents up to age 18 with kidney conditions. Led by physicians who have been providing care for children in San Antonio for over 20 years, our comprehensive program is home to the only pediatric kidney transplant center in the Alamo City. The Center is directed under the leadership of Mazen Arar, M.D., Professor and Chief, Division of Nephrology, Department of Pediatrics, UT Health San Antonio.
Chromosome 18 Clinical Research Center
Vision: Every person with a chromosome 18 abnormality will have an autonomous and healthy life. Mission: To provide individuals and families affected by chromosome 18 abnormalities with comprehensive medical and educational information with a focus on treatment options. The Center aims to be the international medical and educational resource for individuals with chromosome 18 abnormalities and their families; to perform and facilitate clinical and basic research relating to chromosome 18 abnormalities; and to develop treatments and interventions that promote a healthy and productive life for people with chromosome 18 abnormalities. The Center is directed under the leadership of Jannine Cody, P.h.D, Professor and Director, Chromosome 18 Research Center, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Genetics, Department of Pediatrics, UT Health San Antonio.
Cystic Fibrosis/Pediatric Lung Center
The UT Health San Antonio Department of Pediatrics’ Division of Pulmonology offers state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient medical care to children and adolescents with chronic lung disease. Our clinics are held at the Robert B. Green Clinical Pavilion on the downtown campus. Patients are seen by appointment only. Patients are seen on a consultative basis at University Hospital. We endeavor to work with the primary care provider in the care and treatment of their patients and to work with the families of our patients to insure the highest quality of care. The Center is directed under the leadership of Donna Beth Willey-Courand, M.D., Professor and Chief, Division of Pulmonology, Department of Pediatrics, UT Health San Antonio.
Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute
Since 2004, UT Health San Antonio, Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute’s (GCCRI) mission has been to advance scientific knowledge relevant to childhood cancer, contribute to the understanding of causes of childhood cancer, and accelerate the translation of knowledge into novel therapies. Through discovery, development and dissemination of new scientific knowledge, GCCRI strives to have a national and global impact on the problem of childhood cancer. Our mission consists of three key areas — research, clinical and education. The GCCRI is directed under the leadership of Peter Houghton, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Molecular Medicine, UT Health San Antonio. Faculty from the UT Health San Antonio Department of Pediatrics affiliated with GCCRI include Greg Aune, M.D., Ph.D., Alexander Pertsemlidis, Ph.D., and Gail Tomlinson, M.D., Ph.D.
Neonatal Nutrition and Bone Institute
The Neonatal Nutrition & Bone Institute was established at University Hospital under the leadership of Cynthia Blanco, M.D., Professor, Division of Neonatology, UT Health San Antonio Department of Pediatrics San Antonio, Texas. The Institute is staffed by a team of experts who focus on nutrition, bone health and specialized testing in children.
