State & Local Accolades
Alice Gong, MD, Professor, Division of Neonatology, UTHSA Department of Pediatrics, (pictured right) received the prestigious Kaliski Award in recognition of her many years of continuing leadership to the TPS Committee on Fetus and Newborn, her dedication to caring for both healthy newborns and critically ill premature babies, and for her service as an educator and mentor in promoting the practice of pediatrics and newborn/neonatal ICU care. Dr. Gong is pictured her with her colleague and co-winner, Charleta Guillory, MD, MPH, Baylor College of Medicine and Director of Texas Children’s Hospital Neonatal-Perinatal Public Health Program. Dr. Gong and Dr. Guillory continue to collaborate on statewide and national initiatives to improve the health of newborns, children, and their families.
Dr. Prashant Jha, PGY 5 Fellow, Pediatric Critical Care, Division of Critical Care, Department of Pediatrics at UT Health San Antonio Long SOM took first place in the 2018 Texas Pediatric Society Annual Meeting poster competition in the category of Evidence-based Medicine/QI for, “Sternal Wound Infection Prevention Project for Delayed Sternal Closure in Congenital Heart Surgery.”
Elaine Maldonado Campbell, M.D., Associate Professor, Division of Cardiology, UTHSA Department of Pediatrics received the 2018 UTHSA Master Clinician Award.
Amy Quinn, M.D., Associate Professor, Division of Neonatology, UTHSA Department of Pediatrics received the 2018 UTHSA Master Clinician Award.
