The Division of Child Neurology was created to provide Neurologic care to the South Texas region. Members of the division have many years of experience in providing care to children which strives to deliver the best family-centered, community-oriented cutting edge pediatric care in close association with local and regional primary care providers.. The primary focus of the section will be to teach medical students and physicians-in-training.
The staff provides care to children from birth (including premature birth) to 18 years of age. Some exceptions will be made for persons over 18, especially young adults, who have conditions not often managed by Neurologists who focus on care of adult patients.
The staff can manage a wide variety of diagnoses covering the complete range of Neurologic care. These include:
- Neuromuscular Disease
- Metabolic and Genetic Disorders
- Headache syndromes
- Cerebral Palsy
- Congenital malformations of the nervous system
- Neurocutaneous syndromes
- Brain tumors
- Movement Disorders
The staff delivers care at the University Hospital, the University Hospital Clinic system, and the Goldsbury Center for Children and Families, and other sites as deemed necessary.
