Welcome to the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio. For more than 30 years, the Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in association with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children's Hospital has provided care to infants, children and adolescents affected by hematological, oncological and immunologic disorders.

It is the mission of the Division is to disseminate new knowledge to medical students, residents, and practicing physicians; to acquire new knowledge by participating in basic and clinical research; and to put new knowledge into practice in the care of patients.


ACGME approves pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship program

In April 2008, the division received accreditation from the ACGME for a three-year fellowship training program in pediatric hematology-oncology. Positions were approved for six new fellows over the next three years. Dr. Greg Aune will be our first fellow this summer after he completes his residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University.  The clinical year of the fellowship training will take place primarily at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital while training during the second and third years will take place primarily at the Greehey Childrens Cancer Research Institute.


Division of Hematology-Oncology receives clinical trials award

The American Society of Clinical Oncology selected the Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to receive a 2007 Clinical Trials Participation Award. Only 10 awards were given. This award reognizes community oncology practices that actively participate in clinical trials.
